Telemach Slovenia SIM card: the Free2Go prepaid starter pack

Telemach's Free2Go prepaid SIM costs a couple of euros and is sold widely. We read its page on 8 October 2026, including a coverage claim and several gaps.

Is a Telemach Slovenia SIM card a good choice for a visitor?

It is a cheap, easy-to-buy option, which makes it worth a look for a short stay. A Telemach Slovenia SIM card (Free2Go) is a prepaid starter pack you can pick up in many ordinary shops. Telemach's page is, however, thin on the details a visitor wants, and it contains some figures that disagree with each other, so confirm the terms when you buy.

What does the Free2Go pack cost and include?

From Telemach's Free2Go page, read 8 October 2026:

Starter pack with SIM
2 euros, shown with an earlier price of 4 euros, and 5 euros of credit already loaded
Calls
unlimited calls within the Telemach network for the first 15 days after activation
Top-up data
a 20 euro top-up adds 20 GB
Add-ons
Revolucija gives 15,000 units for calls, texts and data in Slovenia for 8.99 euros. Mini Revolucija gives 1,000 units for 4.99 euros

The page quotes two figures for EU data on Revolucija, 11.9 GB in one place and 13.4 GB in another. Treat both with caution. It also lists a promotional price dated 2024 and valid only in Telemach stores, which may be out of date.

Where do you buy it and what registration is needed?

Telemach lists its stores, kiosks, shops, petrol stations and telemach.si. Partners named include Petrol, OMV, MOL, Shell, Spar, Tuš, Big Bang, Pošta Slovenije and Mercator. The page states no ID requirement for buying the SIM. It says registration is required for the 20 GB top-up data used in the EU. It does not mention an eSIM.

What does Telemach say about coverage?

Its network page says the mobile signal covers 99.93 percent of Slovenia's population and that the network has grown 10 percent a year. Its map shows 3G, 4G and 5G, and Telemach notes it is based on computer simulations, so reality may differ. It gives no separate 4G or 5G percentage.

Telemach Slovenia SIM card or a travel eSIM?

A travel eSIM is bought before you fly and works on arrival. A Telemach SIM costs little but means finding a shop. See our Slovenia SIM comparison. Other operators: A1 Slovenija and Telekom Slovenije.
