Nomad in Morocco: dear at 1GB, unbeatable from 5GB up

What we had wrong

An earlier version of this page said Nomad sold exactly two Morocco plans, a 1GB week and a 3GB month, priced two and four dollars below their real figures, and that we held nothing larger. It said Nomad's eSIM ran on Orange Morocco and Maroc Telecom. It sent heavy users to Airalo's 20GB at $43 as the best rate in the country.

Three separate errors. Nomad's Moroccan prices had never been read off Nomad's own site; they have been now, on 17 August 2026. The two prices we published were both too low. The range is five times larger than we said. And the network claim was invented — Nomad publishes no host network for Morocco, or for any of the 47 countries it covers.

What Nomad actually sells here

That 50GB row is the important one. At $0.90 a gigabyte it is the cheapest verified rate of any African country in our data, ahead of South Africa's $0.98, and it is less than half the floor this site published for Morocco a week ago.

Against Airalo, size by size

Airalo is the other provider whose Moroccan prices we have read at source, so this is a comparison between two checked ladders rather than a checked one and a guess.

Nomad wins every rung from 3GB up, and the gap widens as you climb. At 20GB it is $18, the largest price difference in our Moroccan data. Airalo's much-quoted $2.10 floor — its 20GB over fifteen days at $42 — is matched by Nomad's 10GB month at $21 and beaten outright by both Nomad tiers above it.

Airalo keeps one rung. Its verified 1GB for three days at $6 undercuts Nomad's $7 for seven days, though you get less than half the window. Saily's verified $8.99 for 1GB over seven days is dearer than both. At a single gigabyte Nomad is the most expensive option in Morocco.

Unlimited

Nomad sells four unlimited windows here: $14 for three days, $21 for five, $27 for seven and $35 for ten. Every one of those undercuts Airalo's verified $17.50, $29, $35 and $45, and the seven- and ten-day plans also come in under Holafly's indicative $27.30 and $36.90. Holafly still owns the long end — fifteen days at $57.90 and thirty at $74.90, where nobody else competes.

We would not buy any of them. Nomad's 20GB month at $25 costs less than its own seven-day unlimited and gives you four times the window, and 20GB is more than most Moroccan trips consume.

The network claim we withdrew

The old version of this page told you Nomad's Morocco eSIM ran on Orange Morocco and Maroc Telecom, and built a recommendation for the Marrakech-to-Merzouga road on top of it. There was no source for that. Nomad does not publish a host network for Morocco, and it does not publish one anywhere — the same is true of Airalo and Saily.

Maroc Telecom is still the network you want for the Sahara approaches, the Atlas passes and southern Morocco. Saily and Holafly publish no Moroccan carrier — the operators once shown against their rows came from our own data, not from either seller — and we hold no read of eSIMCard's Moroccan listing, so we would not buy on it. If the network is the reason for the purchase, the only reliable route is Maroc Telecom's own prepaid SIM at a counter, passport in hand.

Hotspot tethering is supported on Nomad's Moroccan plans and draws from the same allowance. The plans are data-only: no calls, no SMS, no Moroccan number.

Nomad or a local SIM?

A Moroccan prepaid SIM runs about $12 at the airport and requires passport registration at a staffed desk.

That used to be a strong price argument, because a $12 pack needed only about 6 GB to beat the country's $2.10 eSIM floor. Against $0.90 it needs about 13 GB, which is a much harder bar for a tourist starter pack. The local SIM's remaining advantage is that you choose the carrier, which is worth real money if your route runs south or into the mountains.

Verdict

From 5GB upwards, Nomad is the buy in Morocco, and it is not close — $13 under Airalo at 10GB, $18 at 20GB, and the only 50GB plan in the country at the best rate in Africa.
