TIM Italy SIM card: what TIM Tourist gives a visitor
TIM Tourist is a 30-day prepaid offer with a lot of data and little EU roaming. Here is what the page says and omits.
Is a TIM Italy SIM card a good choice for a visitor?
It is a strong candidate if you want a local SIM with a lot of data and are happy to visit a shop. A TIM Italy SIM card for tourists means TIM Tourist, a 30-day prepaid offer. We read TIM's pages on 8 October 2026; this is desk research, not a test. The Italy hub covers the other networks.
What does TIM Tourist include?
On the TIM Tourist page, the offer is €14.99 for 30 days, and the SIM costs €10 on top. TIM lists 200 GB of data on what it calls 5G ULTRA, unlimited minutes within Italy and 100 international minutes. The page's own offer-details text mentions 200 minutes instead of 100, so that detail is inconsistent. The offer is marked non-renewable, and unused allowance is lost at the end of the 30 days.
The EU limit is the part to read twice. Of the 200 GB, only 23 GB can also be used in other EU countries, and beyond that TIM quotes €0.13 per MB. If your trip crosses borders, that is the real data figure. An optional add-on of 100 GB for €5 more is listed, with 8 GB usable in the EU, added at activation in a TIM Store. Prices are as read on the date above; check TIM's page before you buy.
Where do you get a TIM tourist SIM?
TIM's page directs you to find a store, and says the add-on is activated at the point of sale. It does not describe online ordering or airport counters. Treat it as a shop purchase.
What ID does TIM need?
The page does not state an ID requirement, and we did not find one elsewhere. Confirm in the store.
TIM Tourist eSIM
The TIM Tourist page does not mention eSIM. We cannot tell you whether a visitor can get one, so ask in store if your phone is eSIM-only.
TIM coverage and 5G
TIM describes the network as 5G ULTRA with speeds up to 2 Gbps download and 300 Mbps upload on compatible 5G phones in covered areas. Those are maximums, and the page does not give a population coverage figure.
TIM against a travel eSIM
A travel eSIM is bought before you fly and needs no shop visit. TIM Tourist gives you 30 days, a local number and a big Italian data allowance at a modest price, but the EU data is small. Our Italy SIM card comparison and cheapest eSIM page show the difference. Other Italian networks: Vodafone Italy, WindTre, Iliad Italy and Fastweb Mobile.
