Buying a SIM at Orly, where the selection is thinner than CDG

Most people landing at Orly should buy nothing

Orly is Paris's second airport and it takes a heavy share of intra-European charter and budget traffic. That matters more than anything else on this page: if your phone contract comes from an EU or EEA country, roam-like-at-home covers France automatically, at your normal domestic rate. You do not need a French SIM, a French eSIM, or a visit to any kiosk.

Check your plan's fair-use data ceiling before you fly if you are staying a while. Otherwise, the rest of this page is for arrivals from outside the EU and EEA.

What is on sale, and what isn't

Orly has no carrier-branded arrivals counter in our record. SIMs come from Relay stores and newsagent kiosks, which is a narrower selection than Charles de Gaulle, where tourist information desks also sell them.

The compensation is speed. The queue runs around 12 minutes at peak and around 5 off-peak, against CDG's 20 and 8. Orly is a smaller building with less of the long-haul arrival-wave crush.

French prepaid SIMs need passport or ID registration, so whatever you buy involves a document scan and a short form. That is straightforward with a passport still in your hand, but it is why even a five-minute queue is not a thirty-second purchase.

What we do not hold for Orly

A fair amount, and it is better to say so than to fill the space. We have no opening hours for any Orly kiosk. We hold nothing that distinguishes Orly 1, 2, 3 and 4 — which retail units sell SIMs, or whether the terminal you land in has one at all. We have no record of which specific carriers the kiosks stock.

So if you are arriving late, or arriving on a budget carrier into a terminal you have never seen, treat buying on arrival as a possibility rather than a plan. Free wi-fi runs throughout the terminals, which is enough to install an eSIM standing at the belt.

What it costs either way

Our country record puts a typical French airport SIM at around $15. These eSIM prices were read from the providers' own French checkouts — Airalo's on 13 August 2026, Saily's on 16 August 2026.

The French ladder runs all the way to 50 GB, and that top rung is the cheapest gigabyte in the country at $0.71 — well worth reading before you assume a small plan is the economical choice. Saily's 1 GB for 7 days at $3.99 is the lowest headline price we hold for France, and it is now a checkout price rather than an estimate — though a single gigabyte does not survive much map use. Saily's monthly rows are also worth a look if 15 days will not stretch far enough: $10.99 at 5 GB and $22.99 at 20 GB both undercut Airalo's own 30-day prices, by a cent and by fifty-one cents.

On networks, there is little to tell you. Airalo, Saily, Nomad and Holafly publish no host network for France; the carriers this page once credited to Nomad's and Holafly's own sites came from our data rather than from either seller. eSIM Go sells nothing to consumers and so names no network anywhere. eSIMCard is the one seller that does publish host carriers — confirmed on its Japanese page — but we have not read its French one, so we cannot say what it names for France. Either way, the network is not a basis for choosing a plan here.

Would we buy at Orly

No, in almost every case. EU arrivals are already covered. Non-EU arrivals get a cheaper plan, no passport scan and no queue by installing an eSIM before boarding — and at Orly, unlike CDG, we cannot even promise you the kiosk will be open when you get there.
