Holafly in Colombia: one product, priced by the day

One product, six lengths

Holafly does not sell gigabytes in Colombia. There is no 1GB starter, no 5GB fortnight, no 20GB month — only unlimited data, bought by duration. That is the single fact that decides whether this provider is right for your trip, and it decides it before you look at a price.

Those prices were read off Holafly's own site on 18 August 2026, and those six windows are the whole range in every country Holafly sells.

A correction. This page used to print a different ladder — $11.70, $19.50, $27.30, $36.90, $56.90 and $97.90 — and built its whole opening argument on the first three working out at exactly $3.90 a day. There is no flat daily rate. The real per-day figure falls at every step, from $4.17 to $3.20, and five of the six prices we printed were wrong. They came from our own generated dataset, not from Holafly.

No plan carries calls or SMS, which in Colombia is a smaller loss than elsewhere — WhatsApp is how guesthouses, drivers and restaurants expect to hear from you. On tethering, our old text said Holafly's Colombian listing permits hotspot use; we hold nothing verified either way, and Holafly's policy differs by country, so read the plan's own terms before you buy if you need to share the connection.

Where the ladder bends

The steps are not evenly priced. Three to five days costs $8 for two days; five to seven costs $7.40 for two; seven to ten costs $8.60 for three, the best-value step on the table. Fifteen to thirty costs $45.40 — nearly as much again as the fortnight itself, and the reason the month is such poor value in Colombia specifically.

The practical reading: if your trip is eleven to fourteen days, the 10-day plan plus a cheap metered top-up from someone else will usually cost less than the 15-day plan. And nothing about the 30-day plan is worth paying for if a 15-day plan plus a metered month would cover you.

How much data makes this worth it

The rest of the Colombia market sells metered data at roughly $1 to $2.60 a gigabyte on 30-day plans — Airalo's verified 50GB month at $49 is the cheap end, its 20GB at $41 and Nomad's 20GB at $39 the middle. Against that, Holafly's week at $27.90 is the price of somewhere around 14GB, about 2GB a day, every day, before unlimited starts paying for itself. Its month at $95.90 is nearly twice Airalo's 50GB.

So the honest test is your own usage, not the marketing. If you are navigating, messaging, posting photos and doing a nightly video call, you are unlikely to reach 2GB a day and a metered plan will cost you less. If you are running video calls all day from Medellín or streaming on long bus legs between Bogotá and the coast, unlimited stops being a luxury.

One more comparison worth having in front of you: Airalo sells unlimited in Colombia too, at verified prices, and the two are close enough to be the same product. They are identical at three days ($12.50) and at five ($20.50). Holafly is $1.60 cheaper at seven. From ten days on Airalo is cheaper — $35 against $36.50, $49 against $50.50, and $91.50 against $95.90 for the month. The old claim that Holafly was the cheapest unlimited in Colombia under a week now amounts to a $1.60 advantage in one window.

The network, and what the listing is worth

Holafly's own listing for Colombia points to no carrier at all. It publishes no host network here or in any of the countries we have read, and the Claro and Movistar Colombia pairing this page used to carry came from our own older data rather than from Holafly. Nothing on this page depended on it, and it has gone.

It would be a lead worth having, mind, because Colombia has places where the network matters. The interior trails of Tayrona have dead zones. Leticia has signal and the jungle around it has none. Parts of the eastern Llanos and the Andean walking routes above 3,000m drop out. Unlimited data is no help where there is no data at all, and no travel eSIM sold for Colombia will guarantee you a specific carrier.

If coverage on a specific route is the thing you actually need, buy a Colombian prepaid SIM instead. It costs about $10 at an airport counter, needs no ID whatsoever, and lets you pick the carrier — Claro, Movistar, Tigo or WOM.

Verdict

Holafly is the right shape for a short, heavy trip: three to ten days on a single phone, no interest in counting gigabytes. On price it is now effectively tied with Airalo over that range rather than clearly ahead of it, so the choice comes down to which app and support you prefer.

For a normal fortnight of maps and messaging it is poor value — Nomad's verified 10GB month at $25 costs a fifth of Holafly's fortnight and will very likely outlast your trip. And avoid the 30-day plan: at $95.90 it is the most expensive single purchase in our Colombia data, above Airalo's unlimited month and roughly double its 50GB. Full comparison on the Colombia hub.
