eSIM Go for Colombia: nothing on sale, and nothing that held up

What holds up

Nothing this page used to claim, and the reason is simpler than a data gap. eSIM Go sells wholesale to resellers rather than to travellers. We checked esim-go.com on 18 August 2026: no consumer price anywhere on the site, no basket, no checkout — Contact Sales where a shop puts Buy now — and no per-country consumer pages, which return 404.

So there is no Colombia listing to open, no price to compare and no hotspot specification to confirm. The three removals below all follow from that. The full finding is on our eSIM Go platform page.

What we removed

The price. Our Colombia plan data holds no eSIM Go rows — not a verified price, not an indicative one. The earlier version of this page carried figures we could not trace to a source, and told you to check eSIM Go's own Colombia listing for the current rate. There is no such listing. Both have gone.

The network. This page opened by saying eSIM Go operated on Claro and Movistar, and then built a recommendation on it — the best available pairing in the country, reach where you need reach and speed where you need speed. None of that was sourced, and eSIM Go has no consumer page on which it could have said any of it. The operator names came from this site's own generated corpus. A coverage argument with nothing under it is worse than no argument, so it is gone rather than hedged.

The hotspot tick. The earlier page credited eSIM Go with allowing tethering where Holafly does not. That came from the same corpus and was never checkable. What remains true is the Holafly half: it does not permit tethering on its Colombia plans, which is worth knowing if you travel with a laptop.

Nobody else in this market fills the gap. Airalo publishes no host carrier for Colombia, and neither does Nomad, whose prices we have now read directly off its own site for 47 countries without finding a single named operator. Saily and Holafly publish none either; the carriers our data once held against their rows came from our own older text rather than from the sellers. That leaves eSIMCard's listing, which nobody has checked in either direction.

What Colombian networks are actually like

This is about the country, not about any plan you can buy.

Claro carries the widest footprint at around 98% population coverage — the coffee region, the Caribbean coast, rural towns. Movistar was named best-performing network in Opensignal's April 2026 report, sweeping nine award categories, and is quicker in the cities. Tigo and WOM make up the rest. The national average speed is about 55 Mbps.

The only way to choose between them is to buy a local SIM in Colombia. No travel eSIM sold for this country lets you pick, and most will not even tell you afterwards.

What a Colombian plan is worth

By trip shape, here is what the rest of the market charges. Airalo's figures were read from its own site on 13 August 2026 and Nomad's on 18 August; the others are indicative and worth confirming yourself. Airalo sells Colombia under two package names, Chimba and Chimba+, so the rows below name which one each price comes from.

Nomad now sits between those two columns with prices we have checked: $4.00 for 1GB over a week, then $9.50 for 3GB, $15.00 for 5GB, $25.00 for 10GB and $39.00 for 20GB, each over 30 days.

The useful thing about this table is the size of the gaps. At 10GB over a month the spread between the cheapest listed price and the verified one is $8, or about 40%. Colombia is a market where shopping around genuinely pays, and any quote — including from the smaller apps and travel brands that resell wholesale capacity under their own name — should be read against the left column, not the right.

The $10 in the room

A prepaid SIM bought at a Colombian airport typically costs around $10, and our country data records no ID requirement for an instant purchase. Four carriers sell locally: Claro, Movistar, Tigo and WOM.

That is a low bar for any travel eSIM to clear, and it is the only purchase in this market where you know what you are getting on. We do not have the local SIM's data allowance on record, so we cannot give you a per-GB comparison — but if a travel eSIM asks above $10 for a modest allowance, walking to a counter on arrival becomes a serious alternative rather than a fallback.

Where Colombia's coverage stops

No eSIM fixes geography. Known gaps: interior trails in Tayrona National Park, the Amazon jungle beyond Leticia itself, the Los Llanos eastern plains, and some Andean hiking routes above 3,000m. A local SIM on the carrier with the widest rural reach is the best mitigation available, and it is a mitigation no travel eSIM can sell you, because none of them will say which network you land on.

If your route takes in the coffee zone, Cartagena, Medellín and Bogotá, none of this will trouble you. If it takes in jungle or high trails, download maps before you leave the city.

The decision

There is no eSIM Go plan to decide about. It supplies other brands rather than selling to you, so the choice in Colombia is between the sellers in the table above — and a local SIM, which is the only purchase that lets you pick a network.
