eSIMCard in Canada: no price from us, and why

The two rows this page compared are gone

We held two eSIMCard plans for Canada, a five-gigabyte month and a ten-gigabyte month, and this review ranked them against the field tier by tier. Both have been withdrawn — out of the table here and out of the cheapest-per-gigabyte ranking across the site, rather than relabelled.

This is a stronger statement than the indicative label those rows used to carry. Indicative means unread but plausible. On 18 August 2026 we read eSIMCard's own pages and found the plan our data priced identically in fifteen unrelated markets sells for well under half of it in Japan, and that our sizes matched neither tier it really sells. Once you know a number is wrong, calling it indicative stops being a caveat and starts being a euphemism.

Replacing them was not an option. eSIMCard sells the same size over the same duration at several prices at once — a Standard/Universal toggle switches the whole range between two product lines, every plan carries a speed-limit flag buried in its own details modal, and the operators named vary plan by plan. Our records hold only provider, size, days and price, so any single figure we stored would have flattened those distinctions into a claim we cannot support. Our eSIMCard page has the detail.

The claim we removed

An earlier version of this page said eSIMCard uses a named pair of Canadian carriers. That pair came from this site's own generated text rather than from eSIMCard, so it is gone, and we hold no read of its Canadian listing.

That puts it in the majority. Saily, Airalo, Nomad and Holafly publish nothing either, and eSIM Go has no consumer page on which it could — eSIM Go sells wholesale to resellers and publishes no consumer price — checked on esim-go.com on 18 August 2026, where there is no basket, no checkout and no per-country page — so its rows cannot be bought or ever verified. See our eSIM Go page. The Rogers name this page once read off Holafly's own listing came from our older data; Holafly's Canada page names no carrier. If you want to choose your Canadian network deliberately, this provider cannot help you decide, and neither can most of the field.

What is not in doubt is where Canadian coverage runs out for everyone: remote wilderness away from population centres, the northern territories of Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, remote northern Quebec and Ontario, and backcountry trails in the Rocky Mountain national parks. Those are tower-map facts, not provider facts. A different eSIM does not fix them.

Against buying a SIM in Canada

A prepaid SIM at a Canadian airport costs about $25 in our data and needs no ID at all — you can walk up and buy one. That is unusually easy compared with countries that demand a passport scan and a wait.

Still, Nomad's verified $13 for 5 GB across a month beats $25 before you have used a byte, and an eSIM works the moment you land instead of after you have found the kiosk. The trade is a phone number: a local SIM gives you one, and a data-only eSIM does not.

What eSIMCard still does that nobody else does

eSIMCard is the only one of the six sellers on this site that publishes the host network at all. We read that directly: its Japan page names three Japanese operators against its plans, in a Supported Countries & Networks block. Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly name no operator in any country, and eSIM Go has no consumer page on which it could. That is a genuine difference, and the price check left it untouched.

The carrier pair our own records held against its rows here is a different matter: that came from this site's generated text rather than from eSIMCard, so it is ours to withdraw and not its claim to defend. Its own country listing is the place to look. Canada is a country where the answer would be worth having — the western and northern footprints differ sharply between operators — and no rival publishes anything at all.

Verdict

We have no Canadian price for eSIMCard, so this page no longer ranks it against anyone. That is a gap in our records rather than a verdict on the shop: it has a working checkout and a far wider range than the two rows we published, quite unlike eSIM Go, whose Canadian figures nobody can buy.
