Nomad in Canada: the cheapest gigabytes, and no network to go with them

Every price below was read off Nomad's own site on 17 August 2026, in US dollars.

There is an unlimited ladder too: $18 for three days, $25 for five, $30 for seven and $35 for ten. Hotspot is supported. Calls and SMS are not included, which is standard for a travel eSIM.

What this page used to say, and what was wrong

We described four plans and none of the prices was right. The entry was published as $4.50 for 1 GB over seven days and is $7. The 5 GB month was published as $12 and is $13. The 10 GB month was published as $20 and is $17. The 20 GB month was published as $30 and is $31.

We also said the range stopped at 20 GB and that there was no unlimited option. Both were wrong: there is a 3 GB month at $8, a 50 GB month at $69, and four unlimited durations.

The direction of the errors matters. The one that flattered Nomad most — the $4.50 entry — was the figure this page led with, and it was $2.50 under the real price.

The 50 GB month is the reason to be here

At $69 for fifty gigabytes over thirty days, that is $1.38 a gigabyte, and it is the lowest rate in our Canadian data from anyone. Airalo's verified 50 GB month on its Canada Mobile package is $84, or $1.68 — the previous floor. Nobody else sells a plan that size in Canada at all.

That matters more here than it would elsewhere, because Canada is a market where buying big usually does not pay. Airalo's own ladder falls only from $1.85 a gigabyte at 20 GB to $1.68 at 50 GB, a nine per cent discount for two and a half times the data. Nomad's falls from $1.55 to $1.38 — not steep either, but it starts lower and ends lower.

One comparison to weigh against it: Holafly's verified thirty days of unlimited is $67.90, $1.10 under the 50 GB month. If you would genuinely use more than fifty gigabytes, and you never tether, that is the cheaper end of the market. Holafly blocks hotspot; Nomad does not.

Where it sits against everyone else

Nomad is now the cheapest verified option in Canada at 3 GB, 5 GB, 10 GB, 20 GB and 50 GB over thirty days.

Against Saily, whose Canadian prices were also read at source, the gaps are wide: $12.99 against $8 at 3 GB, $17.99 against $13 at 5 GB, $30.99 against $17 at 10 GB and $43.99 against $31 at 20 GB.

The one size Nomad does not win is the smallest. Its 1 GB week is $7, and Saily's verified 1 GB week is $5.29. Airalo charges the same $7 for 1 GB over three days, so Nomad's version is the better shape at that price — but if a single gigabyte is all you want, Saily is cheaper.

Unlimited, which we did not know it sold

Nomad's unlimited ladder undercuts Airalo's verified one at every length the two share: $18 against $19 for three days, $25 against $27 for five, $30 against $32 for seven, and $35 against $35 for ten — level at the top. Holafly's verified five-day pass at $19 is cheaper than either, and its one-day pass at $5.90 is a product nobody else offers.

What Nomad has that Holafly does not is tethering. For a laptop, its seven days of uncapped data at $30 is the cheapest option that will actually share a connection.

The coverage story we are not going to repeat

This page used to recommend Nomad for coast-to-coast trips on the strength of a dual-carrier network — Rogers in the east, Telus in the west, switching between them as you travel. It read well. It was not true.

Nomad publishes no host network for Canada, or for any of the 47 countries it sells. The Rogers and Telus names came from our own older generated data, not from Nomad, and we have removed them. Holafly's Rogers listing came from the same place and has gone the same way: no seller whose own pages we have read names a Canadian carrier.

So buy Nomad for the price per gigabyte, which is now a figure somebody has read. Do not buy it because you are driving from Banff to Vancouver and want a particular network under you at the mountain end. Nobody selling a travel eSIM in Canada can promise you that, and the only way to choose a carrier here is to buy that carrier's own SIM — which, with no ID required, is unusually easy.

Where Canadian coverage runs out anyway

No eSIM changes the tower map. Signal thins in remote wilderness far from towns, across Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, in remote northern Quebec and Ontario, and on backcountry routes in the Rocky Mountain parks. Main roads and tourist corridors are fine on any national network. Deep backcountry is not, whatever you bought.

Verdict

Nomad is the value pick in Canada at almost every size, and now on prices we have checked rather than guessed. The 50 GB month at $69 is the cheapest data in the country, the 10 GB at $17 is the cheapest month of that size, and hotspot is included throughout.

It is not the pick for a single gigabyte, where Saily's verified $5.29 beats its $7, nor for a two or three-day stop, where Airalo sells short metered blocks and Nomad does not. Against a Canadian prepaid SIM at roughly $25 from an airport with no ID required, Nomad's 5 GB month at $13 is about half the price — though only the local SIM comes with a phone number and a carrier you chose.
