eSIMCard in Brazil: we no longer hold a price for it

We held two eSIMCard plans for Brazil, a five-gigabyte month and a ten-gigabyte month, and this review turned on how they placed against the field. Both have been withdrawn — removed from the table here and from the cheapest-per-gigabyte ranking across the site, not relabelled.

The word those rows carried was indicative: our number rather than one read at a checkout, but close enough to quote. That is precisely what turned out not to be true. We read eSIMCard's own pages on 18 August 2026 and found the entry plan our data repeated at one price across fifteen unrelated countries goes for well under half that on its Japanese page. "Indicative" describes a figure that might be roughly right. We now have direct evidence ours was not.

Nor could we simply substitute the correct figures. Our records have room for a provider, a size, a number of days and a price, and eSIMCard prices the same size over the same days at two or three different amounts — depending on a Standard/Universal toggle that swaps the entire catalogue between product lines, on a per-plan speed limit hidden inside each plan's details modal, and on carrier sets that change from one plan to the next. Storing one price per size would assert that a throttled plan and a full-speed plan are the same product. The reasoning is set out on our eSIMCard page.

What an eSIM for Brazil actually costs

Airalo and Saily were read on 13 August 2026, Nomad on 17 August 2026. Take these to eSIMCard's checkout and judge what you find there against them.

What you get for the money

Data only. There are no calls and no SMS on either plan, which costs you less in Brazil than almost anywhere else: WhatsApp handles taxi drivers, hotels, restaurant bookings and most small businesses.

Tethering is allowed on both plans. That is worth stating because it is not universal here — Holafly sells unlimited data in Brazil and blocks hotspot use entirely, so anyone travelling with a laptop is choosing between metered sellers like this one whether they like it or not.

Buying needs no passport, no ID and no local paperwork. You install it before you fly and it is live when you land. A local prepaid line is the opposite: registration at the counter requires a passport or ID, in Portuguese, at the end of a queue.

Nobody publishes the Brazilian host network

No seller in our Brazil data publishes which network its plans roam onto, and we hold nothing that names one for any of them.

This matters more in Brazil than it would in a small country. Vivo, Claro and TIM are not interchangeable once you leave the coast. Signal thins in the Amazon interior, in Amapá and Roraima, across rural Mato Grosso, through the interior of the Northeast states, and on the smaller offshore islands. Which of the three networks you land on determines how much of that you actually notice, and buying an eSIM with an undisclosed host means finding out on arrival. eSIMCard's own Brazilian listing is the one worth opening on this, for the reason set out below.

For a trip that stays around Rio, São Paulo, Salvador, Foz do Iguaçu and the routes between them, this is a theoretical concern. For anything genuinely off that spine, it is not.

What eSIMCard still does that nobody else does

eSIMCard is the only one of the six sellers on this site that publishes the host network at all. We read that directly: its Japan page names three Japanese operators against its plans, in a Supported Countries & Networks block. Airalo, Nomad, Saily and Holafly name no operator in any country, and eSIM Go has no consumer page on which it could. That is a genuine difference, and the price check left it untouched.

For Brazil we hold no read of its listing and no carrier of our own against its Brazilian rows, so there is nothing here to confirm or retract. Given how much the answer matters between Vivo, Claro and TIM once you leave the coast, its own page is worth opening.

Verdict

We have no Brazilian price for eSIMCard, so this page can no longer tell you whether it is a fallback or a first choice. That is a limitation in our records, not a finding about the shop — it has a working checkout and a range far wider than our two rows suggested.

What we can say is that Brazil is well served at every size by sellers whose prices we have read, and that a data-only eSIM installed before you fly still beats a passport-and-queue registration at the counter. Start from the Brazil hub and work down from what you actually need.
