Holafly in Brazil: unlimited data, beaten at every length

One product, priced by the day

Holafly does not sell gigabytes in Brazil. It sells unlimited data for a fixed number of days, with no registration and no Brazilian address needed.

A correction. Until 18 August 2026 this page sold Brazil on two plans that do not exist — a one-day at $6.90 and a 90-day at $139.90 — and called the 90-day rate the cheapest unlimited we held for the country. Holafly sells exactly six windows anywhere: 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days. The prices we printed for the durations that do exist were wrong too, and wrong in the direction that flatters Holafly: the month is $95.90, not $74.90.

That matters beyond the arithmetic, because the old month price was the basis of this page's recommendation. It has gone. So has the line saying the plan runs on TIM and Vivo — Holafly names no host carrier for Brazil or for any other country, and those two names came from our own older dataset.

The curve is flatter than most of Holafly's markets. A month costs $3.20 a day against $4.17 for three days, so there is no long-stay discount of any real size here. Brazil is also one of Holafly's dearer countries: $95.90 against the $73.90 it charges across most of Europe.

The registration point, honestly stated

Brazil is one of the countries where the no-registration argument for an eSIM carries some weight rather than being a convenience footnote — though less than we used to give it.

What our data records for a local prepaid SIM is a passport or ID at registration, at around $6 for the SIM itself. Travellers widely report being asked for a CPF, the Brazilian taxpayer number, which visitors do not have, and describe TIM as the carrier most likely to sell on a passport alone. We have not confirmed that stronger version, so we do not count it in Holafly's favour. What Holafly saves you for certain is the counter and the queue: you install it before you fly and it is live on landing.

Where it wins: nowhere on price

Airalo and Nomad both sell unlimited Brazilian data, and both ladders were read off their own sites.

Airalo is cheaper at every length, by $1.50 at three days and by $10.90 at thirty. Nomad is cheaper again at the two lengths it sells. There is no duration at which Holafly is the cheapest unlimited plan for Brazil, and the 30-day comparison has inverted: on our old figures Holafly looked $10 cheaper than Airalo, and on the verified ones it is $10.90 dearer.

The hotspot problem

Holafly does not support tethering in Brazil. No hotspot, no laptop, no second device.

For a phone-only tourist trip this is irrelevant, and there is a decent case that unlimited suits Brazil specifically: ride-hailing navigation, WhatsApp as the default channel for essentially everything including restaurant bookings, and constant map use through cities laid out on no obvious grid. You stop counting megabytes.

For anyone working from a laptop it is disqualifying, and the alternative is simply a plan whose terms permit tethering — check them before you buy, because none of these providers make the rule prominent.

Is unlimited even the right shape?

Worth asking, because the metered market is much cheaper. Nomad's verified 10GB month is $19, Airalo's is $23 and Saily's is $24.99. Nomad's verified 20GB month is $31 — against $95.90 for Holafly's month. Nomad's verified 50GB month at $45 is the one that settles it: fifty gigabytes for well under half what Holafly charges for thirty days of unlimited.

10GB over a fortnight is a lot of maps and messaging. You would need to be streaming, or working, to break it. Unlimited earns its premium when you genuinely cannot predict your usage or you refuse to think about it at all; otherwise a 10–20GB plan does the job for a fifth of the money.

Verdict

We no longer have a Brazil traveller to send to Holafly on price. The long-stay case rested on a 90-day plan that does not exist and a month priced $21 below what Holafly actually charges. With the real numbers in front of you, Airalo's unlimited is cheaper at every length, Nomad's is cheaper still where it sells, and the metered plans are in a different bracket entirely.

What Holafly keeps is the convenience — install before you fly, no counter, no CPF conversation — and the fact that it will sell you an uncapped 15- or 30-day window without asking what you plan to do with it. If that is worth $10 to $20 over Airalo to you, buy it knowingly.
