Nomad in Belgium: a full ladder, undercut at almost every rung

A wider range than we used to describe

Nomad's Belgian catalogue is ten plans, read off Nomad's own site on 17 August 2026. Six are metered: 1 GB over seven days at $4.50, then 3 GB at $9, 5 GB at $12.50, 10 GB at $16, 20 GB at $20 and 50 GB at $45, all over 30 days. Four are uncapped: $11 for three days, $18 for five, $25 for seven and $33 for ten.

This page previously said the range was four monthly plans with nothing uncapped and nothing shorter than a month. That was wrong on both counts, and so were three of the four prices it quoted.

The correction, because the advice rested on it

The old page priced that plan at $29 and called it the best value in Belgium at 58 cents a gigabyte. The real price is $45 — 90 cents a gigabyte, and $12.50 above Airalo's verified Belganet 50 GB at $32.50. The recommendation built on that figure is withdrawn rather than adjusted. The 5 GB was published at $9 and is $12.50; the 20 GB was published at $22 and is $20.

Against the verified market

Belgium is a cheap market and Airalo sells it deeply — 30 plans, every one checked — so the bar is high. Nomad clears it at one size only: 20 GB over 30 days, where the two are level at $20 and a round dollar a gigabyte. At 5, 10 and 50 GB, Belganet costs less for the same allowance over the same window, by $4, $3 and $12.50 respectively.

Against Airalo's dearer Belganet+ tier the result is different — Nomad matches it at 5 GB, beats it at 10 GB and 20 GB, and loses at 50 GB — but that is not a comparison anyone should be making. Plain Belganet sells the same allowances for less than either.

The one place Nomad's ladder is genuinely useful is the short end, which the old page said did not exist. Its 1 GB runs a full week for $4.50, where Airalo's $4 gigabyte expires after three days, and its 3 GB runs a full month for $9. Saily's $3.99 week is cheaper still, and that figure has now been checked too — as has its 3 GB month at $7.99, which undercuts Nomad's $9. Saily's corrected ladder beats Nomad at 3 and 5 GB and loses to it at 10 and 20 GB.

The uncapped plans, also beaten

Nomad's four uncapped plans are $11 for three days, $18 for five, $25 for seven and $33 for ten. Airalo's Belganet unlimited undercuts every one of them: $9.50, $15, $21 and $29 at the same four lengths, and it goes on to 15 and 30 days where Nomad stops. Holafly, the third uncapped seller here, is dearer again at five days on an indicative $19.

The same prices in thirteen countries

Nomad's Belgian ladder is byte-identical to the one it sells in Ireland, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Hungary, Iceland, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Sweden: the same six metered prices and the same four uncapped ones across all thirteen. Whatever produces $12.50 for 5 GB, it is not the cost of Belgian wholesale access — it is a tiering policy applied to a group of countries at once, in the same way Airalo charges a flat $4.00 for an entry gigabyte in market after market. It is worth remembering the next time a seller explains a price as a local network arrangement.

Network: nothing to tell you

Nomad publishes no host network for Belgium, and none for any other country either. An earlier version of this page said our data recorded Proximus and Orange against its 5 GB and 10 GB plans and nothing against the other two. That inconsistency was the tell: the values came from older generated prose rather than from Nomad, and they have been removed. If you need to know which operator you are on, buy a Belgian SIM and pick it yourself.

What we can say applies to every seller equally: Belgian coverage is good almost everywhere and thins in three places — the Ardennes forests, the border zones towards Luxembourg and Germany, and indoors among the coastal dunes near De Panne. Before you buy any Belgian eSIM

If your normal SIM was issued in the EU or EEA, roam-like-at-home covers Belgium and the correct purchase is nothing. That rules out a large share of visitors to a country most of whose tourists arrive from next door.

If it doesn't apply to you, the alternative to an eSIM is a Belgian prepaid SIM at around $12 from the airport. It is cheap, but Belgium requires passport or ID registration before it works, so it means a staffed counter and a form after a flight. An eSIM is live before you land. Verdict

One tie and nine plans that are beaten. The 20 GB at $20 is a fair buy if you already have a Nomad account, because Airalo charges exactly the same for it. Everywhere else in Belgium — smaller, larger or uncapped — Airalo's Belganet tier costs less for the same thing, and at the top of the ladder it costs $12.50 less.
