Orange Belgium SIM card: the Tempo prepaid card, ID and EU use

Orange Belgium sells prepaid as Tempo. Identification is mandatory when the card arrives, and the SIM is ordered through its eShop.

Is an Orange Belgium SIM card worth buying as a visitor?

For a stay of a few weeks it can be, with one condition: you must be able to identify yourself. An Orange Belgium SIM card is a Tempo prepaid card, and Orange's page describes identification as mandatory and a legal requirement, to be done when the card is received. The page does not list which documents are accepted, and it does not say whether a visitor with only a foreign passport can complete it. Settle that before you order.

What is Tempo and what does it cost?

We read Orange's Tempo page (French) on 8 October 2026. It advertises the card at 10 euros, with 10 euros of credit and a 5 GB bonus at purchase. The page does not make clear whether the 10 euros is the SIM price or includes the credit, so treat the first-order cost as something to confirm at checkout.

Pay-as-you-go rates are listed at 0.15 euro a minute, 0.10 euro per SMS, 0.24 euro per MMS and 0.003 euro per MB. Top-ups come in 5, 10, 15, 20 and 50 euros. Each purchase and top-up includes 3,000 minutes of calls to Orange Belgium, VOO and hey! numbers, which matters little to a tourist.

For data, a Data Boost swaps credit for a bundle valid 31 days: 5 euros for 5 GB, 10 for 10 GB or 15 for 15 GB. Call credit stays valid 12 months from each top-up.

How and where do you get an Orange Belgium prepaid SIM?

The page says to order a new card on the Orange eShop, and to top up in a store, online, in the My Orange app or through KBC Mobile. It does not say whether the eShop delivers to a hotel or a non-Belgian address, and it does not list airport shops. Do not assume an Orange kiosk at arrivals.

Does Orange Belgium offer an eSIM, 5G or coverage claims?

The Tempo page we read does not mention eSIM, 5G or coverage. It lists estimated maximum speeds of 350 Mbps down and 70 Mbps up on 4G/4G+ in the Tempo Giga section, and those are Orange's own maximums, not typical speeds. For coverage, use Orange's map on its site. Our own network notes say Orange is strong in cities, but we have not verified that on Orange's pages, so we leave it out.

Using Orange Belgium prepaid in the EU

The page says the card works in Belgium and in EU member countries using the credit on the card, with roaming rates applying outside the EU. If you are visiting Belgium as part of a longer European trip, that helps.

Orange Belgium Tempo or a travel eSIM?

A travel eSIM installed before you land skips both the eShop order and the identification step. A Tempo card suits longer or repeat stays, if registration works for you. Compare plans on our Belgium SIM card comparison and see the Belgium hub. For eSIM prices see the cheapest eSIM page. The other two Belgian carriers are on the Proximus and Base / Telenet Mobile pages.

Common questions

What is the Orange Belgium prepaid card called?

Orange Belgium sells its prepaid SIM as Tempo. Its page lists pay-as-you-go rates, top-ups of 5 to 50 euros and Data Boost bundles valid 31 days. It also describes a Tempo Giga option with a monthly-style bundle, which we did not examine in detail.

Do I need ID for an Orange Belgium SIM card?

Yes. Orange's Tempo page says identification is mandatory, is a legal requirement and has to be done when the card is received. It does not list accepted documents or say how a visitor without Belgian ID should register, so ask Orange before ordering.

How much is an Orange Belgium Tempo SIM?

On 8 October 2026 the page advertised the card at 10 euros with 10 euros of credit and a 5 GB bonus. It is not clear whether the 10 euros is the SIM price or includes the credit, so confirm at checkout.

Does Orange Belgium prepaid work in Europe?

Orange says Tempo can be used in Belgium and in EU member countries, using the credit on the card. Outside the EU, roaming rates apply. The page does not give those rates.

Does Orange Belgium sell an eSIM for prepaid?

The Tempo page we read does not mention eSIM. We cannot confirm that a prepaid eSIM exists. If you want an eSIM for a short trip, a travel eSIM bought before you arrive is simpler.
