Base / Telenet Mobile Belgium SIM card: prepaid top-ups and how to order

Base sells a prepaid SIM that is posted free and activated in the My BASE app, with bundles tied to top-ups of 10 euros or more.

Is a Base Telenet Mobile Belgium SIM card a good fit for a visitor?

It is a cheap-looking prepaid option, but it is built around ordering online and using an app, and the page does not say whether a visitor can complete it. A Base / Telenet Mobile Belgium SIM card is ordered on base.be or in the My BASE app, posted free the next working day, and activated in the app. The page we read does not state any ID or registration rules, so we cannot tell you what a tourist must show. Base belongs to Telenet, whose terms the page says apply.

What do Base prepaid top-ups give you?

We read Base's prepaid cards page on 8 October 2026. It lists these top-ups, in euros:

  • 5: 20 minutes of call credit, no data listed.
  • 10: 1 GB, 40 minutes, unlimited calls to Base numbers and 250 texts.
  • 15: 4 GB, 60 minutes, unlimited Base calls and 1,000 texts.
  • 25: 8 GB, 100 minutes, unlimited Base calls and 5,000 texts.

Activating the SIM in the My BASE app adds 2 GB. You can also swap call credit for data: 10 euros for 2 GB, 15 for 4 GB, 25 for 8 GB, by app, online or by text to 1914.

Bundles are valid 30 days from a top-up. A top-up of 10 euros or more within those 30 days refreshes free minutes and texts and extends remaining data by 30 days; a 5 euro top-up does not reset the clock. Outside bundles the page lists 0.25 euro a minute, 0.12 euro per SMS and 0.50 euro per MB in Belgium and Europe.

Does a Base prepaid SIM work in Europe?

The page says free minutes, texts and data are valid in Belgium and Europe, excluding premium numbers, while the unlimited calls to Base only work inside Belgium from Base numbers. It links to roaming and international rates but gives no figures for them.

Where can you buy it, and is there an eSIM?

The page offers online or in-app ordering and a separate activation link for a SIM bought in a shop with a 15 euro starting amount. It does not name shops or airport outlets. eSIM appears only as a link under services, with no details, so we cannot say whether Base prepaid can be an eSIM. The page also gives no coverage, 4G or 5G claims, so use Base's own coverage map.

Base prepaid or a travel eSIM?

If you arrive tonight and want data on landing, Base's postal delivery is a poor match: the SIM comes the next working day to a Belgian address. A travel eSIM installed before you fly works on arrival. A Base card makes more sense for a longer stay or a resident-style setup. Our Belgium SIM card comparison puts the choices side by side, and the Belgium hub has the rest. See also the cheapest eSIM page, and the Proximus and Orange Belgium pages.

Common questions

How do I get a Base Telenet Mobile Belgium SIM card?

Order it on base.be or in the My BASE app, optionally keeping your current number. Base says the SIM is posted the next working day at no charge and is activated in the My BASE app or on base.be. A SIM bought in a shop with a 15 euro start amount uses a separate activation link.

How long are Base prepaid bundles valid?

Free minutes, texts and data are valid for 30 days after a top-up. A new top-up of at least 10 euros within that period replaces unused minutes and texts and extends remaining data by 30 days. A 5 euro top-up does not reset the 30 days. To keep the SIM active, top up at least once every 365 days.

Does a Base SIM card work in Europe?

Base says free minutes, texts and data are valid in Belgium and Europe, excluding premium numbers. Unlimited calls to Base only work inside Belgium. Beyond the bundles, the page lists 0.25 euro a minute, 0.12 euro per SMS and 0.50 euro per MB.

Do I need ID to buy a Base prepaid SIM?

The Base prepaid page we read does not state any ID or registration requirement. That does not mean none applies. Ask Base or the shop selling the card what a visitor must show before you rely on it.

Is there a Base eSIM for prepaid?

The prepaid page only links to eSIM under its services section and gives no details, so we cannot confirm it for prepaid. For a quick eSIM on arrival, a travel eSIM is the more certain option.
