Holafly in Albania: uncapped data, and nobody's cheapest option

What Holafly sells here

Six plans, all unlimited, no metered options at all.

Those six durations are the entire Albanian range. Holafly sells 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 days in every country it covers, and nothing in between. The prices were read off Holafly's own site on 18 August 2026. The Airalo, Nomad and Saily figures below were read from those providers' own sites and are verified too.

A correction. Until 18 August 2026 this page listed three plans — five days at $19, ten days at $36.90, twenty-five days at $68.90 — and told you the five-day plan undercut Airalo by about $7. Every part of that was wrong. The five-day plan is $28.90, so the figure we printed was 52% too low, and there is no 25-day plan to buy. Those numbers came from our own original generated dataset rather than from Holafly, and the recommendation built on them has gone with them.

Note what is still missing: there is no cheap way in. The Albanian eSIM market starts at about $4 with Saily and Airalo. Holafly's floor is $19.90 for three days. If you want a gigabyte for a weekend, this is the wrong shop.

Albania is the most expensive country Holafly sells

Holafly charges $73.90 for a 30-day plan across most of Europe, and $64.50 in Italy and Spain. Albania is $125.90 — above India and South Africa at $111.90 and Serbia at $106.50, and the highest 30-day price of the 44 countries we have read. Whatever sits behind that, you pay it: an Albanian month costs 70% more than a German one for an identical product.

It is not the cheapest unlimited, at any length

Two other providers sell uncapped Albanian data, and both beat Holafly.

Nomad undercuts Holafly at every length it sells, by $8.90 to $11.50. Where Nomad stops, Airalo carries on and is cheaper at 10, 15 and 30 days. Holafly is 60 cents under Airalo at three days and level with it at seven, but Nomad is cheaper than both at those lengths.

So there is no duration at which Holafly is the cheapest unlimited plan in Albania. The previous version of this page said the opposite, and said it on the strength of prices that were not real.

The break-even most travellers never reach

The more useful question is whether you want uncapped at all.

For $28.90, Holafly gives you five days with no ceiling. For $21 verified, Airalo gives you 10GB over seven days — $7.90 less, and two days longer. So Holafly only starts to pay if you burn more than 10GB in five days, which is 2GB a day.

2GB a day is a lot for a holiday. Maps, messaging, a few dozen photos to a cloud backup and normal browsing lands most people between 300MB and 700MB a day. You reach 2GB by streaming video on the phone for a couple of hours daily, or by making long video calls home. Some people do exactly that. Most don't.

A cheaper comparison makes it starker. Airalo's verified 5GB/7-day is $12 — $16.90 less than five days of Holafly, with two more days of validity. Saily's 20GB month is $29.99, roughly what Holafly charges for five days. For a standard Riviera week the metered plan is the buy, and it is not close.

No hotspot, and who that eliminates

Holafly's Albania plans do not support hotspot tethering. That is a product restriction, not a setting you can toggle.

This removes the single largest category of heavy user: anyone working from a laptop. If you are a remote worker in Tirana or Sarandë — and Albania has become a real destination for that — Holafly's unlimited plan cannot feed your laptop, which is the reason you wanted unlimited in the first place. A metered plan is the practical answer: Airalo's verified 20GB/30-day at $36 and Nomad's 50GB/30-day at $49 both cost less than Holafly's ten days, and last three times as long.

So the person Holafly suits in Albania is narrow: a phone-only traveller who streams heavily, wants no counter at all, and is willing to pay $9 to $11.50 more than Nomad charges for the same uncapped product.

The network, and the mountains

Holafly does not publish a host network for Albania, or for any other country. We read its own Albanian listing and it names no carrier at all — the Vodafone and ALBtelecom pairing this page used to show came from our own older data rather than from Holafly, and it has gone. Airalo, Saily and Nomad publish nothing either, so nobody selling an Albanian eSIM will name the operator you land on.

Do not let it drive the decision, because it cannot deliver what it appears to promise. Albania's coverage problems are altitude and remoteness, not carrier choice: the Accursed Mountains have extensive dead zones for hikers, as do remote highland villages and some inland valleys. The Llogara Pass area is patchy away from the main road, which is covered. An unlimited plan with no signal is worth nothing, and unlimited data does not extend a network's footprint.

Verdict

Don't buy Holafly in Albania. If you want uncapped data for ten days or less, Nomad sells it for $8.90 to $11.50 less at every length. Beyond ten days, Airalo's unlimited is cheaper, and its 30-day at $98 saves $27.90 against Holafly's $125.90.

For everyone else — light users, long stays, anyone with a laptop — the metered plans are cheaper, longer and more flexible, and a local prepaid SIM at around $8 undercuts everything if you are willing to show a passport at registration. The full spread is on our Albania hub.
