M1 Singapore SIM card: tourist plans, eSIM and where to buy

M1 sells tourist SIMs and eSIMs online, at Changi and in shops. Plans, passport rules and the eSIM catch for visitors.

Is an M1 Singapore SIM card a good choice for a visitor?

Yes, and it has the widest range of places to buy one. An M1 Singapore SIM card for tourists is sold online, in M1 shops, at Changi Airport counters and at convenience stores, as a physical SIM or an eSIM. We read M1's tourist SIM page on 8 October 2026; this is desk research, not a test. The Singapore hub covers the other carriers.

What are the M1 Tourist SIM plans?

All are 30-day plans and all are labelled 5G. The page lists, among others:

  • Data-only, $13: 500 GB local data, no calls or texts.
  • All-in-one, $12: 500 GB local, 500 minutes of local calls out and 100 texts.
  • All-in-one, $14: 600 GB local, with 500 minutes and 50 texts.
  • All-in-one, $30: 1,000 GB local, 3,000 minutes and 1,000 texts.

Cheaper and bigger variants, an EZ-Link card bundle and a retailer-only version also appear, and the page admits outlet prices and variants differ. Local data covers Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Thailand. Prices are as read on the date above, so check the M1 page.

M1 prepaid eSIM and physical SIM

The M1 tourist eSIM needs stable Wi-Fi during setup and a supported phone, which include recent iPhones and iPads and Samsung Galaxy S20 and later. There is a trap: M1 says instant eSIM activation without a physical SIM is only for Singapore residents with Singpass, so a visitor's eSIM goes through registration first. Deleted eSIMs cannot be restored.

Where to buy

M1 lists online purchase with pickup, M1 shops, Changi Airport counters (Meet & Greet at Terminals 1 to 4 and Changi Recommends at 1 and 3), selected 7-Eleven and Cheers stores, and authorised retailers.

What ID does M1 need?

Passport registration is required. A SIM registered with a passport is valid for 30 days including the registration day. To keep the number you update to a Singapore ID inside the M1 Prepaid App within that time. Data-only SIMs and eSIMs cannot make or receive calls or texts.

M1 coverage

M1 labels its tourist plans 5G, but the page gives no coverage percentage or speeds.

M1 against a travel eSIM

A travel eSIM needs no passport registration with the carrier. M1 gives you local data across seven countries, a number on the all-in-one plans and plenty of shops. See our Singapore SIM card comparison and cheapest eSIM page. Other carriers: Singtel, StarHub and TPG.
