Saily in Hungary: cheapest at the small end, expensive at 20GB

The five plans

All five were read off Saily's own site on 18 August 2026. This page previously listed three plans and stopped at 5GB; the 10GB and 20GB months exist, and the two monthly figures we did carry were each a dollar too high. The Airalo prices used for comparison were read at source on 13 August 2026 and Nomad's on 17 August 2026.

The listing also records hotspot tethering as supported.

The entry plan is the good one

$3.99 for 1GB over seven days is the lowest headline price anywhere in our Hungary data, and the seven days is the part people miss. Airalo's entry plan costs $4.00 for 1GB — but the clock runs out after three days. A penny less, for more than twice the window.

It also undercuts the physical alternative. A prepaid SIM at Budapest Airport runs about $8. Saily's small plan is half that, arrives before you land and needs no queue. For a two- or three-night city break where the phone is doing maps, messages and the odd ticket QR code, 1GB is usually enough, and this is the plan we would buy.

Then the curve holds up until 10GB

• 3GB for $7.99 is $2.66 a gigabyte, and the cheapest 3GB month in the country — Nomad's is $9.00 and Airalo's $8 buys only seven days.
• 5GB for $11.99 is a cent under Airalo's verified $12 and 51 cents under Nomad's $12.50. This page previously put Saily at $12.99 here and called Airalo the winner; on the real price it is a tie to the cent.
• 10GB for $18.99 loses to Nomad's verified $16 by three dollars, though it edges Airalo's $19.
• 20GB for $31.99 loses to Nomad's verified $20 by twelve dollars. That is the worst row in Saily's Hungarian book and the one to avoid.

Above 20GB Saily has nothing. Airalo's verified 50GB month at $36 comes to 72 cents a gigabyte, less than half Saily's best rate.

What we do not know about the connection

Saily publishes no host network for Hungary, or for anywhere else — we hold no operator against a single Saily row in any of the forty-eight countries we cover. An earlier version of this page said its listing names Magyar Telekom and Yettel; that was our own record rather than anything Saily publishes, and it has been removed. If somebody tells you Saily is the pick for Hungary because of which network it uses, they are inventing the detail.

Coverage limits in Hungary are the country's, not the provider's. The remote Zemplén Mountains in the north-east, stretches of Lake Balaton's southern shore, and the deep sections of the Aggtelek caves are known weak spots for any network. Budapest and the main road and rail corridors are fine.

Before you buy anything

Hungary is in the EU. If your home plan is from an EU or EEA country, roam-like-at-home means your normal allowance generally works there at domestic rates, and the right amount to spend is nothing. That covers a large share of the people reading this page.

If you are coming from further afield, the local option is unusually easy here: Magyar Telekom, Yettel Hungary and Vodafone Hungary prepaid SIMs need no ID, so buying one is a counter transaction rather than a registration. Verdict

Buy Saily in Hungary up to 5GB. Saily's $3.99 plan is the best entry price in the country and the seven-day window makes it usable; its 3GB month at $7.99 is the cheapest of its size; its 5GB month at $11.99 ties Airalo to the cent.

At 10GB and 20GB, buy Nomad — $16 and $20 against Saily's $18.99 and $31.99. And at 50GB, Airalo's $36 is the only rate in Hungary under a dollar a gigabyte.
