Holafly eSIM not working? Check these things in Holafly's order
Most Holafly connection problems come down to a few settings, and data roaming is the one Holafly names first. Here is the checklist, plus the QR code error.
Is your Holafly eSIM not working, or not started yet?
Holafly says a trip eSIM does not start when you install it. It starts when your phone connects to a local network at your destination with data roaming on. So a Holafly eSIM not working at home is expected, and it will not carry data until you land. A status of "installed" or "on" before the trip is normal. Check one more thing before anything else: Holafly says a plan can have ended, so look at the days remaining in the app or on the website. Unlimited plans show days left rather than gigabytes. If you are somewhere the plan covers and still have nothing, work down the list below.
Holafly not working: the settings to check first
These come from Holafly's setup guide and its fix for the iPhone "network not available" problem.
- Is the Holafly line on and chosen for mobile data? An installed eSIM can sit there switched off. On iPhone, select it under Cellular Data and turn off the setting that lets the phone switch data lines automatically.
- Is data roaming on for that eSIM? Holafly calls this the most common cause of failed activation, and the most effective step when an iPhone is stuck on SOS or No Service. Turn it on in the eSIM's own settings.
- Toggle airplane mode. Holafly suggests about 15 seconds on, then off, to refresh the connection.
- Switch off other lines. On a dual-SIM phone, turn off your home SIM and any other eSIM so they do not get in the way. That also avoids roaming charges on the home line.
- Restart the phone. Holafly lists it among its quick fixes.
- Pick a network by hand. Turn off automatic selection, wait for the list, and try each operator for about 30 seconds before keeping the strongest. Holafly says you can see the compatible networks for your destination on its site.
- Reset network settings, last. On iPhone it is General, then Transfer or Reset iPhone, then Reset, then Reset Network Settings. Holafly says it does not delete the eSIM but does remove saved Wi-Fi networks and cellular preferences.
Holafly eSIM not working: should you delete it?
If your Holafly eSIM is not working, do not delete it. Holafly warns more than once against deleting the profile while troubleshooting. A removed eSIM generally cannot be reinstalled, and a QR code or manual code can only be used once. If you delete it, you will probably need Holafly to replace it. Details are in our guide to how Holafly works.
"eSIM cannot be added" or "this code is no longer valid"
That error is about installation, not signal. Holafly lists two causes: an unstable Wi-Fi connection that interrupts the scan, and an eSIM that is already installed on the phone. Its fixes:
- Look for the eSIM icon at the top of the screen. If it is there, skip installing and activate it.
- On iPhone, open Settings, General, About, and check that the ICCID of the second line matches the reference number in your QR code email.
- Use a stronger Wi-Fi network.
- Check for a carrier lock under Settings, General, About. "No SIM restrictions" is what you want. If it says the phone is locked, ask your provider for an unlock code first.
- Turn off airplane mode, restart, install pending software updates, and install through Settings rather than the camera.
- Type the manual details instead of scanning.
Holafly help when the eSIM is still not working
If a Holafly eSIM not working at your destination survives the whole list, contact Holafly. Its contact page lists live chat, WhatsApp and email, and says the team is available 24/7. Holafly's refund policy also says that if you have a connection problem, you should report it to support while you are still travelling, because a refund is not guaranteed if you only write after the trip. Our pages on Holafly support and the Holafly refund cover both.
What Holafly does not tell you
The help pages we read do not give a timeframe for how long an activation should take, and they do not explain what to do for each specific error code. For a different provider's version of the same exercise, see Airalo eSIM not working. The Holafly hub has the rest of our coverage.
We have not tested Holafly's plans, app or support ourselves. This page is desk research from Holafly's own site and help centre, read on 8 October 2026, and Holafly changes its rules from time to time.
Common questions
Why is my Holafly eSIM not working?
The usual causes in Holafly's guides are data roaming switched off for the eSIM, the line not selected for mobile data, another SIM interfering, or the plan not yet started at your destination. Holafly says a trip eSIM starts when your phone connects to a local network, so it will not carry data at home.
Why is Holafly not working on my iPhone?
Holafly says to turn the eSIM line on, select it for Cellular Data, switch on Data Roaming in the eSIM's own settings, toggle airplane mode for about 15 seconds, restart, and try a network by hand. Resetting network settings is the last step. Holafly calls data roaming the most effective fix for SOS or No Service.
What does "eSIM cannot be added: this code is no longer valid" mean?
Holafly says it usually means the Wi-Fi was unstable during installation or the eSIM is already installed on the phone. Look for the eSIM icon at the top of the screen, check the ICCID under Settings, General, About against your QR code email, use stronger Wi-Fi, then try again.
Where do I get Holafly help if the eSIM still does not work?
Holafly's contact page lists live chat, WhatsApp and email and says support is available 24/7. Its refund policy says to report a connection problem while you are still travelling, because a refund is not guaranteed if you only write after the trip. Contact support from the place you are in.
Should I delete the Holafly eSIM and start again?
No. Holafly says a deleted eSIM generally cannot be reinstalled, and a QR code or manual code can only be used once, so you would probably need Holafly to replace it. Work through the settings checklist first and contact Holafly support if it still does not connect.
