Three UK SIM card: pay as you go packs, eSIM and what's unstated

Three sells pay as you go data packs and an eSIM you can use straight away. Prices, 5G, and what its pages leave out for visitors.

Is a Three UK SIM card a good choice for a visitor?

It is a reasonable one if you can order ahead. A Three UK SIM card is a pay as you go SIM with a monthly data pack, and the eSIM details arrive by email so you can start straight away. Three's page says nothing specific about visitors. We read Three's pages on 8 October 2026; this is desk research, not a test. The UK hub covers the other networks.

What does Three pay as you go cost?

On the page we read, data packs last one calendar month, with unlimited minutes and texts. Three listed 60 GB for £10, 120 GB for £13.50, 240 GB for £18 and Unlimited for £31.50 (these prices assume auto-renew, which saves 10 percent), with speeds up to 50 Mbps. One-month packs at up to 25 Mbps were listed at 40 GB for £10, 100 GB for £15, 200 GB for £20 and Unlimited for £35. A Value Data Pack gives unlimited data for three months at £90 at up to 25 Mbps. Prices are as read on the date above; check Three's pay as you go page.

Where do you get a Three SIM?

You order online, or by phone on the number Three shows. The SIM is free but cannot be ordered separately from a data pack. The page does not mention shops or airports, and it does not say whether the SIM is posted, which matters if you want it on arrival. It does say the SIM activates automatically on your first call, text or data use.

Three eSIM

The Three prepaid eSIM is downloaded to your phone, with details emailed to you, so it can be used straight away. This is the route that suits a visitor, because it needs no delivery time. The page does not say which phones are supported, so check yours.

What ID does Three need?

The page does not mention ID, and its support page covers neither SIM registration nor visitors. We cannot say what a visitor must provide.

Three coverage and Go Roam

Three says its pay as you go SIMs have access to its 5G network at no extra cost, and links to a coverage checker without giving a figure. Go Roam covers over 70 destinations but must be activated in the UK before you travel. To keep a number active you need a chargeable activity at least every 180 days.

Three against a travel eSIM

A travel eSIM is bought before you fly. Three's eSIM has a UK number and a monthly pack, which is more than most travel eSIMs give you. See our UK SIM card comparison and cheapest eSIM page. Other UK networks: EE, O2 and Vodafone UK.
