A1 Serbia SIM card: the Welcome SIM and eSIM for visitors

A1 sells a Welcome SIM aimed at tourists, as a card or eSIM. Prepaid registration with a passport has been mandatory since February 2025.

Is an A1 Serbia SIM card a good choice for a visitor?

Yes, on paper it is one of the more visitor-friendly options we found. A1 names a "Welcome SIM" that it describes as a prepaid internet card for tourists, visitors and people in transit, and it can be bought as an eSIM. We read A1's Serbian-language pages on 8 October 2026, mostly via search excerpts, so check a1.rs for today's terms.

What does the A1 Welcome SIM include?

A1's Welcome SIM page says the card comes with 200 GB of mobile data at maximum available speed. The bonus lasts seven days from registration, and the validity can be set to 7, 15 or 30 days. A1 advises registering the number after you arrive in Serbia, because the bonus may not be usable otherwise. A1's own pages show different prices for the SIM, one page giving 1,000 dinars for a new Welcome SIM and another giving 600 dinars for a standard prepaid SIM and in-store eSIM, with an online eSIM promotion for new users running 1 September to 30 November 2026. Because they conflict, we are not stating a price. Check the page at purchase.

Can I buy an A1 eSIM before I arrive?

A1 says the Welcome SIM is available as an eSIM if your phone supports it. The route it describes: enter your email, pay, receive a QR code, install it. A1's support page lists examples of supported phones such as iPhone 11 and later, and notes a phone can use one eSIM alongside a physical SIM at a time. Verify that your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM before paying.

Registration and ID

Serbian law has required all new prepaid users to register since 10 February 2025. A1 says foreign nationals without permanent residence can register with a passport or a foreign ID card valid for entry to Serbia. Online registration needs the passport, the PUK code (on the SIM holder, via *123# or in the Moj A1 app) and optionally login to the eUprava portal. Numbers that remain unregistered are restricted, so do not skip this step.

A1 Serbia coverage

We read no coverage percentage or 5G claim on A1's pages. A third-party guide says A1 has good city coverage; we could not confirm that on A1's site, so look at its coverage map for your route, especially outside Belgrade and Novi Sad.

A1 versus a travel eSIM

An A1 SIM gives you a local number and a lot of data, but also a registration step. A travel eSIM avoids the paperwork and installs at home. The Serbia comparison page compares them. Other carriers: Yettel and Telekom Srbija (mts).
