Saily in Mexico: the verified prices, and the case that survives them

Five plans, now verified

Data only, no calls or SMS, hotspot tethering supported. We read these off Saily's own Mexico page on 16 August 2026, and they replace the indicative figures this page carried until then.

Those figures were wrong, and wrong in one direction. We listed 1GB at $3.99 against a real $4.99, 5GB at $11.99 against a real $14.99, and 10GB at $17.99 against a real $23.99 — a third under the true price. The 3GB and 20GB plans we did not list at all. Everything below is written against the checked numbers.

The entry plan no longer wins on price

$4.99 for a week of 1GB is not the cheapest plan in our Mexico data. Airalo's cheaper Mexican line, Chido, sells 1GB for 3 days at $4.00, also verified, and that is now the lowest entry price we hold anywhere in the country. (Chido Plus lists the same gigabyte at $5.50.)

What Saily still sells at this size is the window. $4.99 buys seven days against Chido's three: 25% more money for more than twice the validity. On a week-long city trip that is a fair trade, and Saily is the only sub-3GB plan here that lasts a full week. On a three-day trip there is no case for paying it.

One other provider sells below 3GB: Nomad's verified 1GB for 7 days is $5.00, a penny more than Saily's for the same week. Holafly sells unlimited only. Under 3GB it is a three-horse race — Saily just no longer wins it on price.

Above 1GB, Saily is the most expensive plan on the table

Saily is last in every row. Against Airalo's Chido — the only other verified prices in the table — it is $1.99 dearer at 5GB ($14.99 against $13.00), $5.49 dearer at 10GB ($23.99 against $18.50) and $6.99 dearer at 20GB ($37.99 against $31.00), with Chido's plans running the same 30 days. Against Nomad — whose Mexican prices were read at source on 17 August 2026 and are now verified too — the gaps are $3.99, $8.49 and $10.49.

Per gigabyte it never becomes competitive: $3.00/GB at 5GB, $2.40/GB at 10GB, $1.90/GB at 20GB. Saily's best rate in Mexico is still above Chido's 10GB rate of $1.85/GB. And the cheapest gigabyte in the country is not on this ladder at all — Airalo's Chido sells 50GB for 30 days at $45, or $0.90/GB, less than half Saily's best.

This is the part of the page that changed most. On the old numbers Saily was second at 5GB and third at 10GB, losing narrowly. On the real ones it is last at every size, by margins wide enough that no amount of interface polish covers them.

The one gap Saily fills

Chido's 30-day ladder starts at 5GB. Below that, Airalo's 3GB plans run three days at $7.50 or seven days at $8.50, and there is no month-long 3GB from Airalo in Mexico at all. Saily's 3GB for 30 days at $9.99 fills that gap: a small allowance with a full month of validity, which suits a long stay with wifi most of the time.

Nothing published about the network

Saily does not say which Mexican network its eSIM attaches to, and we hold nothing on it. Neither does Airalo — no host network is published for Chido or Chido Plus — and eSIM Go has no consumer page on which it could. eSIMCard does publish host carriers on its country pages, confirmed on its Japanese one, but we have not read its page for this country and hold no network for it here.

For the buyer this page is really about, that matters less than it sounds. A 1GB week is a city plan — Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Cancún, Oaxaca city — and all three national networks serve urban Mexico properly. The places where the choice of operator decides whether your phone works are Holbox and Contoy, the Copper Canyon, the interior of Oaxaca and Chiapas, and long rural highway stretches. You are not covering those on 1GB anyway.

If your trip does go rural, this is the wrong plan for reasons of size before reasons of network.

Against the counter

Mexico is unusually hostile to travel eSIMs on price. A local prepaid SIM costs about $8 at the airport and requires no ID whatsoever — no passport scan, no registration form, nothing to fill in. Against that, most eSIM plans here are selling convenience at a premium.

Saily's $4.99 for 1GB over 7 days still undercuts the counter, but it is no longer the only eSIM that does: Airalo's Chido 1GB for 3 days at $4.00 undercuts it by more. From 5GB up, every eSIM on this page costs more than the local SIM before you count what the SIM's own data is worth.

So the verdict is narrower than it was. Buy Saily's 1GB if you need a week rather than a long weekend, and accept that you are paying $0.99 over Airalo for the extra four days. Buy the 3GB for 30 days if you want a month on a small allowance and want a verified price for it.

Do not buy the 5GB, 10GB or 20GB. Airalo's Chido is verified and cheaper at all three sizes, and Nomad is verified and cheaper still. Check the Mexico hub for the full comparison before you commit.
