Saily in Germany: verified prices, and Nomad is under all of them

Five plans, and every price checked

Saily, the travel eSIM from Nord Security, sells five Germany plans, and every price below was read from Saily's own site on 16 August 2026. These are no longer indicative figures carried over from older content — they are verified, and the margins in this review are exact rather than approximate.

Three of those five moved when we checked, and the range grew. The 1 GB plan was published here at $3.99 and is $4.49. The 5 GB month was published at $11.99 and is $10.99. The 10 GB month was published at $18.99 and is $16.99. And the 20 GB plan was missing from our data entirely — Saily's German range does not stop at 10 GB, as this page previously said it did.

It is no longer the cheapest way into Germany

The old version of this page led on Saily's 1 GB plan as the best short-trip deal in the German market. At $4.49 it is not. Airalo's verified 1 GB is $4.00, and that is now 49 cents cheaper rather than a penny dearer.

The caveat that made the old argument work has shrunk but not vanished. Airalo gives you three days for its $4.00; Saily gives you seven for $4.49. If your trip is a long weekend, the extra window is worth 49 cents and Saily is still the plan to buy. If you land and leave inside three days, Airalo is simply cheaper.

On a genuine like-for-like — 1 GB over seven days — Saily's $4.49 beats Nomad's $4.50 by a cent. Both of those figures are now read from the sellers' own checkouts, so the cent is real rather than an artefact of provenance. It is still a cent.

Where it now stands

This section used to say Saily was the cheapest 30-day plan in Germany at three of its five sizes. That was true only because Nomad's German prices had never been read at a checkout and the ones we held were too high. They have since been read, and they are lower. The corrected table:

Saily is second or third at all four. The gaps are a dollar at 3 GB, a dollar at 5 GB, three dollars at 10 GB and two dollars at 20 GB, and every figure on both sides has been read at a checkout, so there is no provenance argument left to lean on.

The 5 GB month is worth singling out because the old page called it Saily's clearest win. At $10.99 it does still beat Airalo's verified $11.50. It does not beat Nomad's $10.00, which is what the win was measured against before anyone checked.

At 3 GB, Airalo will sell the same allowance for $7.50 over three days or $8.00 over seven. If you want three gigabytes to last a month, Nomad at $8.00 is the cheapest route and Saily is a dollar behind it.

One clean result runs across the whole range, and it is the reverse of what this page used to print: Nomad undercuts Saily at all four metered sizes above 1 GB. The only rung Saily holds is the entry, by a cent, over seven days.

Where it still loses

Ten gigabytes is the size most two-week travellers actually buy, and Saily is third at it: Nomad's verified $14, Airalo's verified $16, then Saily's $16.99.

The other loss is at the top. Saily's range stops at 20 GB. Nomad sells 50 GB for 30 days at a verified $32 and Airalo at a verified $36, which is 64 and 72 cents a gigabyte against Saily's best rate of $1.15. If you are working from Berlin for a month or tethering a laptop, Saily runs out of product well before the market does.

What we can't tell you about coverage

Saily does not publish a host network for Germany, and our data holds none against any of its five German plans. An earlier version of this page said Telekom appeared against some of them; that was carried out of older prose rather than read from a checkout, and it is gone.

So if which carrier you land on genuinely decides your trip — a week in rural Brandenburg, a lot of regional rail, a village in the Bavarian Forest where coverage is patchier than the national reputation suggests — Saily cannot answer the question, and neither can Airalo, Nomad or eSIMCard. None of those four names a host network anywhere. eSIM Go and Holafly do name Telekom, though neither listing has been confirmed against the carriers. A local prepaid SIM is the only way to be certain, because you pick the carrier at the counter.

Against buying nothing, and against a German SIM

An EU or EEA phone plan already covers Germany under roam-like-at-home, out of your normal allowance. If that is you, spend nothing. This comparison is for UK, US, Canadian, Australian and Asian numbers.

A German prepaid starter pack costs around $15 at airport prices and gives you a German number on Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone, O2/Telefónica or 1&1. The obstacle is registration: German law requires passport or national ID to activate a prepaid SIM, so you need a staffed counter and a document check rather than a rack and a till. Saily's three smallest plans undercut that $15 and skip the queue; its 10 GB and 20 GB months cost more than the starter pack, so at those sizes you are paying for convenience rather than saving money.

The verdict

The recommendation on this page has flipped twice, and this is the honest state of it. Saily used to be the short-trip pick that fell apart above a gigabyte. Then it looked like the cheapest month at three sizes. With Nomad's prices finally read at source, it is neither: Airalo is cheaper at 1 GB for a short stay, and Nomad is cheaper at 3, 5, 10 and 20 GB.

The case for buying Saily in Germany is now narrow. It is a cent cheaper than Nomad for 1 GB over seven days, which is the only size where nothing undercuts it, and its app and support are its own argument. On price alone there is no German size at which it is the answer above a gigabyte. Hotspot is supported across the range.
