Saily in Argentina: a penny under Airalo, a dollar over Nomad

The ladder, and what we got wrong

Five Saily plans appear in our Argentina data. All five were read off Saily's own site on 18 August 2026, which is a change: every figure this page previously carried was an internal estimate, and every one of them was too low.

The 10GB error was the serious one: $7 under what Saily charges, on a plan this page recommended.

Read the per-gigabyte column downwards and it does something odd. It falls from $5.29 to $3.33, then goes back up to $3.40 at 5GB before resuming. Buying five gigabytes costs you more per gigabyte than buying three. The 20GB plan, at $2.35 per GB, is the best rate Saily offers here, which is true of Saily in every country we have checked.

Hotspot tethering is supported across the range. No calls or SMS are included, which in practice costs you nothing here — Argentine life runs on WhatsApp, and WhatsApp runs on data.

The one cent

Line Saily up against Airalo at the three sizes both sell over thirty days:

That is not a coincidence and it is not confined to Argentina. Airalo prices in round dollars and Saily prices a cent below it, in 75 of the 145 shared 30-day sizes we have now verified across both. If you are choosing between those two on price alone in Argentina, you are choosing on three cents.

Where Saily actually loses

To Nomad, at everything below 20GB.

Nomad's verified 3GB over thirty days is $9.50 against Saily's $9.99. Its 5GB is $16 against $16.99. Its 10GB is $28 against $29.99 — a two-dollar gap on the size most two-week trips want. All three are thirty-day plans, so there is no validity trade to weigh against the price.

At 1GB, Nomad charges $5 for seven days where Saily charges $5.29 for the same seven days. This page used to put eSIMCard below both; its rows have been withdrawn, because the figures we held were not the ones it sells.

An earlier version of this page said Saily was "the cheapest thing available" at 3GB and 5GB and called it "the buy" at both. On verified prices that was wrong at both sizes, and it was wrong because the Saily figures were too low, not because Nomad moved.

Where Saily wins

At 20GB, by one cent, over Nomad and Airalo at $47 each. That is the whole of it.

It is a real win in the sense that $46.99 is genuinely the lowest verified 20GB price in Argentina, and a meaningless one in the sense that nobody should choose a provider over a penny. Pick on tethering, on app, or on whichever you have used before.

Saily sells no unlimited Argentina plan. Holafly and Airalo both do.

The network, honestly

Saily publishes no host network for Argentina, or for anywhere else. An earlier version of this page said its 1GB and 3GB rows named Movistar and Claro; that attribution came from our own older text rather than from Saily, and it was wrong.

Which means we cannot tell you what your phone will actually connect to, and neither should anyone else selling you this plan on a coverage argument. If a specific carrier matters to your trip, buy locally where you can choose one.

On the ground, coverage failures in Argentina are geographic rather than provider-specific. The Patagonian steppe between towns is the worst of it, and the Bariloche to El Calafate route has long stretches with no signal from anyone. The Perito Moreno end of Los Glaciares National Park is patchy. Beyond the city limits of Ushuaia, assume nothing. Download offline maps before you leave a town, whatever you paid for your data.

Verdict

On the prices we now hold, Nomad is the better buy in Argentina at 3, 5 and 10 gigabytes, and Saily is the better buy at 20 by a single cent. That is close to the opposite of what this page said a week ago, and the reason is simply that the Saily prices it argued from were never read off Saily.

Buying takes no passport, unlike a local Argentine SIM, which needs passport or ID at registration and runs around $15 at the airport. Set the eSIM up before you fly, because the one thing a travel eSIM reliably buys you is arriving already connected.
