Airalo APN settings: where to find them and how to enter them

Many Airalo eSIMs set the APN for you. Some need it typed in by hand. Here is how to tell, where the value lives in the app, and the iPhone and Android steps.

Do you need to change Airalo APN settings at all?

Often not. Airalo says some of its eSIMs need Airalo APN settings entered by hand before mobile data works, and that if the app lists no APN for your eSIM, it is set up automatically and you do nothing. So the first job is to check the app. We read Airalo's APN article on 8 October 2026. This is desk research, not a test on our own phone.

Where do you find your Airalo APN?

Log in to the Airalo app, go to My eSIMs and select the eSIM. Tap View details, and under "Ready to use your eSIM?" tap How to connect. If an APN is needed, it appears there. Airalo's own example of how it looks is "globaldata", written in lowercase with no spaces. Your plan may show a different value, so copy yours exactly.

How do you enter Airalo APN settings on an iPhone?

  1. Open Settings, then Cellular (or Mobile Data).
  2. Under Cellular Plans, choose your Airalo eSIM.
  3. Select Cellular Data Network (or Mobile Data Network).
  4. Type the APN exactly as shown in your eSIM details.
  5. Leave the other fields blank.

How do you enter Airalo APN settings on Android?

  1. Open Settings, then Network & Internet (sometimes Connections).
  2. Choose Mobile Networks, then Access Point Names.
  3. Enter the APN exactly as shown in the eSIM details.
  4. Leave the other fields blank.

Menu names differ between makes and software versions, so these are Airalo's wording rather than a guarantee for every handset. After you save, the phone should connect to mobile data on the Airalo eSIM. If it does not connect straight away, restart it.

What if the APN is right and data still fails?

APN is only one of several things that can stop an eSIM connecting. Airalo's wider troubleshooting order also covers whether the eSIM is on and selected for data, airplane mode, data roaming, manual network selection, other active SIMs, dropping from 5G to 4G, and weak local signal. All of it is on the Airalo eSIM not working page.

Airalo also lists a "PDP Authentication Failure" article among its troubleshooting pages. We have not summarised it, so we cannot say what it recommends.

What mistakes break a manual APN?

Airalo's instruction is to enter the APN exactly as shown, in lowercase and without spaces, and to leave the other fields empty. That means no username, no password and no authentication type. A stray capital letter or a trailing space is an easy slip when you type it by hand, so paste the Airalo APN settings from the app where you can, and re-check them before you assume the plan is at fault.

Do Airalo APN settings affect a hotspot?

Yes, if your eSIM needs a manual APN. Airalo says the hotspot needs the same one. See Airalo hotspot for where it goes.

What does Airalo not say about APNs?

Its article does not list APN values for particular eSIMs or countries, and does not say why some plans need one. The value is shown per plan in the app. For the full install and connection path, see how to install an Airalo eSIM on an iPhone and how an Airalo eSIM works. My data still does not work after setting the APN. What next?

Restart the phone, then work down Airalo's checklist: eSIM switched on and selected for mobile data, airplane mode off, data roaming on, manual network selection, other SIMs, 4G instead of 5G, and local signal strength. Our Airalo eSIM not working page lists the full order.
