Rogers Communications Canada SIM card: visitors are pointed to chatr
Rogers' own prepaid page would not load for us. Its network is sold to visitors under the chatr name, so that is where we looked.
Is a Rogers Communications Canada SIM card a good option for visitors?
It can be, but you will probably buy it as chatr, not Rogers. When we searched for a Rogers prepaid SIM for visitors, the result was chatr's "Get eSIMs ideal for tourists travelling in Canada" page. chatr's plans page says its service is "powered by the Rogers network".
The limit of this page: Rogers' own prepaid address redirected us without showing plan content, so we could not read Rogers' prepaid terms, coverage claims or 5G statements first-hand. Anything about coverage should be checked against Rogers' coverage map.
What does chatr sell, and does it suit a tourist?
On 8 October 2026 chatr's plans page listed monthly plans for new activations: $25 for 5 GB, $30 for 15 GB and $35 for 30 GB, each with an auto-pay bonus that applies only if you enrol and stay enrolled. It also listed a $159 yearly plan with 40 GB. All included unlimited Canada-wide talk and unlimited text to Canada, the US and internationally. The page did not mention 5G or eSIM, and it gave no price for the SIM itself.
The tourist page appeared in search with a title promising eSIMs for visitors, but the page did not load its body for us, so we cannot quote its price, validity or ID rules. Search excerpts say you can get the eSIM online or collect a SIM at chatr retail locations, with airport locations such as Toronto Pearson and Montréal-Trudeau named on the French page. Treat that as a lead until you check chatr's site.
Rogers' own newcomers page
Rogers has a page for newcomers that says you can choose a plan, reserve a SIM and get a Canadian number before arriving. Search showed it as quite old, and it is aimed at people moving to Canada, not tourists. It is not a visitor product.
Rogers coverage: what we can and cannot say
Some third-party guides say Rogers has Canada's widest 5G footprint, but we could not confirm that on Rogers' own site, so we are not repeating it. For this carrier the honest summary is: check Rogers' coverage map for your route, and note that chatr does not state 5G on its plans page.
Rogers versus a travel eSIM
A chatr or Rogers line gets you a Canadian number and local plans, but you handle activation, payment and perhaps a shop visit. A travel eSIM is data only and installs before you fly. We compare them on the Canada comparison page. The other carriers are covered on Bell, Telus and Freedom Mobile.
For the wider picture see our Canada SIM and eSIM hub, the Canada SIM card comparison and our cheapest eSIM page. This page is desk research from the carriers' own public pages, not a test of any plan.
Common questions
Does Rogers sell a Rogers Communications Canada SIM card to tourists?
Rogers' own prepaid page redirected us without content, so we could not confirm. Search results show visitors being pointed to chatr, a prepaid brand whose plans page says it runs on the Rogers network, with a page titled as eSIMs for tourists travelling in Canada.
What does a chatr prepaid plan cost?
On the chatr plans page we read on 8 October 2026, new-activation plans were $25 a month for 5 GB, $30 for 15 GB and $35 for 30 GB, with auto-pay bonuses, plus $159 a year for 40 GB. The page gave no SIM price. Check the page for current prices.
Is there a Rogers eSIM for visitors?
chatr advertises eSIMs for tourists in Canada and search excerpts say activation is online on eSIM phones, but we could not open the page body to read terms. Rogers support lists eSIM requirements such as an unlocked phone with an eSIM slot. Confirm details before you buy.
Where can a visitor pick up a Rogers-network SIM?
Search excerpts say chatr SIMs are sold at hundreds of retail locations in Canadian cities, and the French page names Toronto Pearson and Montréal-Trudeau airports. We could not verify this on a page we could fully read. Check chatr's store locator on arrival.
What does Rogers say about its coverage and 5G?
We could not read a Rogers coverage claim, because its prepaid page redirected and chatr's plans page does not mention 5G. Use Rogers' coverage map for your route rather than relying on general statements from third parties.
