Smart Communications Philippines SIM card: tourist eSIMs and prepaid

Smart sells prepaid eSIMs and a tourist eSIM in the Philippines, from 99 pesos. Its store pages show prices, but registration is required to activate.

Is a Smart Communications Philippines SIM card a good choice for a visitor?

Smart is a sensible one to look at, because it sells eSIMs aimed at tourists and publishes prices in its online store. The caution is practical: one tourist eSIM was out of stock on the page we read, data and validity details are missing from some listings, and every prepaid eSIM must be registered before it works. Smart is the PLDT mobile brand; our Philippines hub covers other options.

What does Smart sell?

We read Smart's online store eSIM category on 8 October 2026. It listed six eSIM products, with these prices.

Prepaid Digital eSIM with Magic Data 99
  • 99 pesos
  • digital delivery
Smart Prepaid Digital Tourist eSIM 599
  • 599 pesos
  • digital delivery

Smart Prepaid Philippine Tourist eSIM P1599: 1,599 pesos, free delivery. The product page says it has unlimited open access data and unlimited calls and texts to all local networks, but gives no validity. It showed as out of stock, with delivery estimates of 1 to 5 days.

Smart Carded eSIM + P300 Load Card: 399 pesos, free delivery.

TNT eSIM - Digital: 75 pesos, and a TNT carded eSIM at 389 pesos. TNT is a sister prepaid brand.

The category page did not show data allowances or validity for the other products, so check each product page before buying. We quote prices as read on that page and date.

Do you have to register a Smart eSIM?

Yes, according to the P1599 product page: you register at Smart's SIM registration page to activate the prepaid eSIM. Philippine SIM registration rules for foreigners are not described on the Smart pages we read. DITO's page says tourists need a passport, proof of a Philippine address and a return ticket, which is useful as a guide but is DITO's statement, not Smart's. Ask Smart which documents it accepts.

What does Smart say about coverage?

The store pages make no 4G or 5G coverage claim, so we make none. Our own network notes call Smart's 5G footprint the widest, but they are an unverified lead. Check Smart's coverage map for the islands you will visit.

Smart compared with a travel eSIM

A Smart eSIM gives you a local number and local plans, but you register it in the Philippines and the stock was patchy. A travel eSIM is bought before you fly. See the Philippines SIM card comparison and cheapest eSIM page. Other local carriers: Globe Telecom and DITO Telecommunity. Back to the Philippines hub.

Bottom line

Our verdict on the Smart Communications Philippines SIM card is that Smart prepaid and the Smart tourist eSIM are published with prices, but stock and registration need checking before you rely on Smart.
