eSIM Go in Italy: the cheapest 10 GB we hold, on a product that is not sold

The recommendation this page used to make

It said: buy the 10 GB plan. At $17 for a month it was the cheapest of its size in our Italy data, a dollar and a half below the cheapest verified rival, and the page weighed that against the fact that nobody had checked the number.

The withdrawal is not about the number. eSIM Go sells wholesale to resellers — travel brands, apps and MVNOs that put their own name on the eSIM — and does not retail to travellers. We checked esim-go.com on 18 August 2026: no consumer price anywhere on the site, no basket, no checkout, Contact Sales where a shop puts Buy now, and no per-country consumer pages, which return 404.

There is no product page to open and no basket to fill. A price you cannot pay is not the lowest price on the board; it is not on the board at all, and putting it there next to Airalo and Nomad compared a wholesale rate card with two shops. The full finding is on our eSIM Go platform page.

The two rows we hold

They stay on the page rather than being deleted, because this site published them as buyable for months, and because the $17 is evidence in itself: it is the identical figure our eSIM Go rows carry for Australia, France, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Spain, Thailand and the United States. Nine countries priced to the cent alike is a template, not a market.

What 10 GB actually costs in Italy

Nomad's verified $18.50 is the cheapest 10 GB month you can actually buy in Italy. If your trip is a week rather than a month, Airalo's verified 10 GB over 7 days is $17 — the same money the eSIM Go row asked, at a checkout that exists.

eSIMCard is a different case: esimcard.com is a working shop, so its prices are ones a traveller can pay. Ours were wrong, and all 78 rows were withdrawn on 18 August 2026 once we read its site.

The rest of the Italian market, verified

Note what the eSIM Go rows never covered even on paper: no 1 GB entry plan, nothing above 10 GB, no unlimited, no short-validity block. Airalo covers all four in Italy, Nomad three, Saily two.

Whether to buy an Italian eSIM at all

EU and EEA phone plans roam in Italy at domestic rates under roam-like-at-home. If that is you, buy nothing.

For everyone else the alternative is an Italian prepaid SIM, roughly $18 at an airport counter in our data, with a passport or ID document required at registration. The paperwork is the reason many visitors skip it; the local SIM gets you an Italian number, which no travel eSIM here does.

Network, and where Italy goes quiet

Nobody in this market publishes a host network. We read Airalo's, Nomad's, Saily's and Holafly's own country pages on 17 and 18 August 2026 and none of them names a carrier for any country — the operators our data once attributed to Holafly's listing were nowhere on Holafly's site. eSIM Go could not name one even if it wanted to, having no consumer page at all.

An earlier version of this page named an Italian carrier for eSIM Go, put Nomad among the sellers that name a host, and credited Holafly's listing with Italian operators. All three came from our own data and all three were wrong.

Italy's dead spots are the same whoever you buy from, and they are worth planning around: the Amalfi Coast tunnels and cliff-side villages, the Cinque Terre trail between the villages, remote Dolomite hiking routes, interior Calabria and Basilicata, and the smaller Sicilian islands. If your itinerary is Rome, Florence and Venice, none of it will trouble you.

Verdict

There is nothing to buy here, and the recommendation that stood on this page has been withdrawn rather than caveated — its premise was that a purchase was possible.
